Mithrandir + Linear

Connecting Linear gives every AI agent your company uses the history of its plans: issues, projects, updates and the discussion behind them. Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and Cursor answer with the issue behind them. Each person sees only what Linear already shows them, and private teams stay with their members.

What it reads

What Mithrandir reads from Linear

  • Issues and their comments
  • Projects and project updates, including those shared across teams
  • Documents

Access

The access rules that carry over

  • A private team's issues and comments reach that team's members only.
  • A public team's issues reach every member of your workspace who is not a guest.
  • A project shared across teams reaches the members of each of those teams.

Setup

Set up in three steps

  1. 1

Your Linear admin approves the Mithrandir app once.

  2. 2

Your teams' issues, projects and documents come in, and changes follow from then on.

  3. 3

People ask from the agent they already use, and can let it create and update issues on their own account.

Examples

What your agents can now answer

  • “What changed in the scope of this project since kickoff?”
  • “Which issues did we close for this customer last month?”
  • “Create an issue for the bug we just discussed and assign it to me.”

Questions

Linear and Mithrandir, answered

Can agents change things in Linear?
Yes, if a person turns it on. Agents act on that person's own account, and riskier changes show a preview for the person to confirm first.
Do private teams stay private?
Yes. A private team's issues reach its members and nobody else.
Can someone outside a team see its issues?
Only if the team is public in Linear. Then every non-guest member of your workspace can, as in Linear.
